What's An RPZ Valve?

RPZ (Reduced Pressure Zone) valves are required for proper backflow prevention, keeping contaminated water out of both your plumbing and the general water supply. They are installed at the front of your plumbing system, connecting your property with the mains water supply. The reduced pressure zone lets you know if your backflow prevention is working correctly and can give you an early warning sign if something goes wrong. An RPZ backflow preventer has two check valves that it uses to prevent backflow. If one fails, the other one will continue to work, and should both fail the system will open up a third valve release water and alleviate the problem. If you have a large or complex plumbing system, for either a residential or commercial property, one or more RPZ valves will help you keep backflow out and fulfill your legal obligations to your local water authorities.
